RECAP: Sea Dogs end road trip with overtime win in Gatineau
GATINEAU, QC – The Saint John Sea Dogs capped off a back-and-forth game Sunday afternoon with an overtime victory over the Gatineau Olympiques.
Philadelphia Flyers prospect Matteo Mann clinched the win for Saint John, scoring the game-winner in overtime to seal a 3-2 victory. The game concluded the Sea Dogs three-game road trip through Quebec, bringing their record to 8-7-0-0.
Eriks Mateiko and Zach Morin scored the other two goals for Saint John.
Goals for Gatineau were scored by Maxim Dube and Lukas Landry.
GAME SUMMARY
Just 30 seconds into the game, a Sea Dogs penalty led to an Olympiques penalty shot but Charles-Edward Gravel stonewalled Maxim Dube with a glove save. At the 7:36 mark, Dube picked the five-hole on Gravel to open the scoring.
The Sea Dogs equalized the score on the man advantage at 12:07, with Egan Beveridge winning a battle along the boards and setting up Zach Morin in front for a finish between the pads of Zach Pelletier.
Only 56 seconds into the second period, a stray shot from Nicolas Bilodeau reached Eriks Mateiko who went five-hole to put Saint John up 2-1. Less than a minute later, Olympiques forward Isaiah Parent sent Lukas Landry down the ice, who beat Gravel over the shoulder to tie the game at two.
Just over three minutes into overtime, Tyler Peddle battled for control in the Gatineau zone and sent the puck to Matteo Mann, who capitalized on an open net to secure the two points.
