Three Stars: Element, MacDonald, Anglehart
The final week before the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s holiday break was a roller coaster one for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. After starting the week with a convincing 5-1 win over the Cape Breton Eagles last Wednesday, the Titan came out flat on Friday, falling behind 6-0 after the second period before rallying late to wind up losing 6-3 to the Saint John Sea Dogs. They finished the week with a 3-0 setback to the Moncton Wildcats on Saturday in their final game before Christmas. After all was said and done though a trio of veterans stood out as our Titan Three Stars of the week.
First Star – Shawn Element
The Titan captain wasn’t letting trade rumours throw him off his game as he continued to lead the team each night. Element added three more goals, including the game winner last Wednesday, to give him a team best 20 goals on the season, while firing a total of 16 shots on goal over the three game period.
Second Star – Anderson MacDonald
Like all three of our stars this week, MacDonald saved his best game for last Wednesday picking up three assists in the team’s 5-1 victory over Cape Breton and finished the week with a plus/minus rating of +2.
Third Star – Remy Anglehart
Anglehart also had a big game against the Eagles with two goals and an assist.
Honourable mentions go to rookie defenceman Zachary Racicot and forward Bennett MacArthur. Taking advantage of increased ice time, Racicot was a team best +3 last week. MacArthur, meanwhile, made the most of his one game with the Titan. After being called up from the Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League, he set the tone for the Titan scoring the first goal of the game on Wednesday and narrowly missing two other scoring chances before the first period was through.
