Regiment Axe Armada 6-3
ST. JOHN’S, NL — The Newfoundland Regiment won their first road game of the year midweek as they took down the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 6-3 on Wednesday night at the Centre d’Excellence Sports Rousseau.
After a goalless opening period, Alexis Michaud got the scoring started on a Regiment powerplay 5:42 into the second to make it 1-0 Newfoundland.
The second period onslaught from the visitors continued as Louis-François Bélanger, Maddex Marmulak and William Lundqvist got in on the scoring to make it 4-0 for the visitors after 40 minutes. Lundqvist’s goal marked the first in the QMJHL for the Swedish defenceman.
Tyson Goguen brought it to 5-0 early in the third before the Armada clawed back a trio of late goals. Luckily the hosts comeback bid would get no closer as Goguen added an empty net tally in the dying seconds to see Newfoundland hang on for the 6-3 victory.
Louis-Antoine Denault made 29 saves in goal for the Regiment for his second win in as many starts.
The Regiment hit the highway tomorrow as they take on the Rimouski Oceanic in a Friday-Saturday doubleheader at the Colisée Financière Sun Life. Tickets for the remaining 26 home games back at the Mary Brown’s Centre are available now at tickets.nlregiment.com.
