Regiment Repeat 3-2 OT Win Over Huskies
ST. JOHN’S, NL — The Newfoundland Regiment took down the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in a 3-2 overtime win for the second straight day on Sunday afternoon at the Mary Brown’s Centre.
Charles Laforest opened the scoring for the Huskies once again, this time 11:07 into the contest.
After Maddex Marmulak replied for the Regiment seven minutes later, Jayden Pominville restored the visitors lead on the next shift to make it 2-1 Huskies after 20 minutes.
Matthew Frost found an answer for Newfoundland nine minutes into the middle frame and from there neither team had a reply, sending these two into overtime once again this weekend.
Marmulak wasted little time in 3-on-3 play setting this game as his second of the night 26 seconds into overtime sealed a 3-2 Regiment victory.
Netminder Antoine Proulx made 29 saves in the win to stay unbeaten to start the season.
The Regiment now hit the road for the first time this season with the first of seven straight away from the rock on Wednesday night against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Tickets for the remaining 26 home games back at the Mary Brown’s Centre are available now at tickets.nlregiment.com.
