2023-08-08
Halifax, NS – The Halifax Mooseheads have announced the addition of three new members of the organization’s scouting staff.
Darren Sutherland joins the staff as a Maritimes region scout, William Bujold has been hired as a QMJHL scout and Jeff Fox becomes the Ontario region scout. These staff additions continue the trend of bolstering and identifying key areas of opportunity to add value within the Hockey Operations staff.
Sutherland is a familiar face in hockey circles in the Maritimes and has been a scout for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for the last 10 seasons while also working extensively with Hockey Canada’s scouting staff. Darren was born and raised in Halifax, NS and is the older brother of former Mooseheads Captain Robbie Sutherland.
Bujold completed his Masters of Business Administration degree at the University of Laval in 2023 and has a background in strategy, marketing, sales and information technology. His focus with the Mooseheads will be to pre-scout the other 17 QMJHL teams. William resides in Montreal, QC.
Fox comes to the team with vast knowledge and experience from his time in the CCHL. He has held the roles of General Manager, Head Coach and Assistant Coach in parts of the last five seasons with the Rockland Nationals. He also spent time as an Assistant Coach with the Cumberland Jr Grads of the HEO U18 AA league.
“I’m thrilled to have these three excellent scouts join our staff and I’m excited to see the impact they will make on our organization,” said General Manager Cam Russell.
The new hires complete what has been a busy offseason for the Hockey Operations Staff which included naming Jim Midgley as Head Coach and Jon Sim as the Player Development Consultant.
Training Camp for the 2023-24 season begins on Saturday, August 19th at the RBC Centre in Dartmouth. The Mooseheads will face the Charlottetown Islanders in the Home Opener at Scotiabank Centre on Friday, September 22nd. Season Tickets and 15 Game Packs are on sale now.
