QMJHL Videotron Player of the Week | Brady Schultz
The latest Videotron Player of the Week in the QMJHL is Halifax Mooseheads defenseman Brady Schultz. In four games, all on the road, the 19-year-old from Munroe, Connecticut scored three times and added eight assists as the Mooseheads went a perfect 4-0-0-0 to pull further ahead in the Maritimes Division standings.
On Monday afternoon in Moncton, Schultz played a pivotal role in a back-and-forth affair. After recording a goal and two assists in helping his squad to a 4-0 lead, the third-year veteran was called back to duty to pot the overtime winner in a 5-4 triumph over the Wildcats. It was the first four-point game of Schultz’s QMJHL career.
On Thursday night in Sherbrooke, Schultz was again a difference maker. His powerplay tally late in the second period would prove to be the game-winner. He would also assist on a late empty-netter as the Mooseheads defeated the Phoenix by a score of 5-2.
Schultz and the Moose would work a little more overtime on Friday night in Gatineau. On this occasion, the blueliner would register three assists, including a helper on Lou-Felix Denis’ winner just under two minutes into the extra frame. Schultz would also finish the night with a +3 rating in Halifax’s 5-4 victory over the Olympiques.
On Sunday afternoon in Quebec, Schultz would, for the fourth straight game, factor into the scoring of the game winning goal. This time, his second assist of the day led to Peter Reynolds’ third period clincher. While the Moose skated away with 3-2 decision over the Remparts, Schultz managed to secure third star of the game honors.
Schultz’s offensive outburst has vaulted him into second place in the QMJHL scoring derby among defensemen with 51 points in 58 games. A 14th round selection of Halifax at the 2020 QMJHL Draft, Schultz has already surpassed his previous career highs for goals and points in a season.
