QMJHL Entry Draft Prospect Profiles
The QMJHL Entry Draft on Saturday, June 3rd in Saint John is quickly approaching with your Halifax Mooseheads holding the fourth overall pick. Additionally the team has the 23rd and 41st overall selections giving the Mooseheads a trio of picks in the top 50.
With that in mind HalifaxMooseheads.ca is taking a look at some of the top prospects available.
Christopher Merisier-Ortiz is an extremely agile defenceman who uses his superior skating skills to his advantage. He is a great passer and proves to be effective on the power play. Merisier is considered to be more offensive minded and will need to improve his defensive skills at the next level. Scouts believe there could be high reward with this player. Size is not one of his best assets at 5-foot-10 and only 160 pounds but there is lots to like about his game. Merisier scored 26 points in 38 regular season games with St-Eustache, including six goals and six assists with the man advantage. He collected four assists in five games with Quebec White at the Gatorade Challenge. Central Scouting has him ranked as the seventh overall skater in the QMJHL Entry Draft.
