Screaming Eagles Shutout Saguenéens

David Honzik shut the door making 31 saves for Cape Breton, as the Screaming Eagles snapped a nine game losing streak by shutting out the Chicoutimi Saguenéens 3-0 in front of 2,628 fans on hand at the Georges-Vézina Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Blake Millman, William Carrier and Alexandre Lavoie each had a goal for the Screaming Eagles, who improve to 8-19-2-4 on the season.
The Saguenéens record falls to 15-15-2-1 on the year.
After a scoreless first period, Cape Breton got on the board at 10:12 of the second period as Blake Millman scored his first goal of the season beating Christopher Gibson, Cole Murphy and Billy Hartley were given the assists.
The Screaming Eagles would take a 2-0 lead as William Carrier found the back of the net for his 16th goal of the season on the power play at 15:26 of the second period, Justin Haché and Alexandre Lavoie added the helpers on the goal.
Cape Breton took a 3-0 lead and never looked back as Alexandre Lavoie buried his team-leading 19th goal of the season on the power play at 11:26 of the third period, Justin Haché and Michael Clarke were given credit for the assists on the goal.
Honzik’s record improves to 2-4-0-0 on the year, while Christopher Gibson turned aside 25 of 28 shots in the loss for Chicoutimi, his record falls to 7-4-0-0.
The Screaming Eagles next game is on Tuesday, December 11th as they finish up their three-game road trip with a stop in Saint John, NB., to face the Sea Dogs. Game time is 7pm from Harbour Station. Losing Streak Ends: The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles snapped a nine game losing streak, dating back to November 18th, on Sunday afternoon in Chicoutimi. The losing streak saw the club lose to Halifax twice, Rouyn-Noranda, Moncton, Saint John, Chicoutimi, Rimouski, P.E.I. and Baie-Comeau.
First Shutout As Screaming Eagle: Goaltender David Honzik posted his first shutout as a Screaming Eagle on Sunday against Chicoutimi. The 19-year-old made 31 saves in the win for Cape Breton.
First Win As Screaming Eagle: Cape Breton Screaming Eagles head coach and general manager Marc-André Dumont picked up his first win behind the Screaming Eagle bench on Sunday. Dumont took over as head coach and general manager of the club on December 3rd from Ron Choules.
Hits: Cape Breton Screaming Eagles defenseman Loic Leduc had three hits in the game, while Stephen Woodworth had two hits in the contest. Cape Breton out hit Chicoutimi 15-11.
Final Shots On Goal: 31-28 in favor of Chicoutimi.
Cape Breton went 2/3 on the power play, while Chicoutimi went 0/4.
