Screaming Eagles Lose In Saint John

The Saint John Sea Dogs snapped a four-game losing streak on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 3-1 in front of 2,867 fans on hand at Harbour Station.
The Sea Dogs losing streak, which dated back to November 29th, saw the club lose to the Val-D’or Foreurs, Rimouski Océanic, Quebec Remparts and Halifax Mooseheads.
Olivier Cooper, Kevin Gagné and Aidan Kelly each had a goal in the game for the Sea Dogs, who improve to 15-16-0-0 on the season.
Bronson Beaton had the lone goal for the Screaming Eagles, who fall to 8-20-2-4 on the year.
The Screaming Eagles opened the scoring at 1:34 of the first period as Bronson Beaton scored his sixth goal of the season beating Sea Dogs goaltender Sébastien Auger, Clark Bishop and Raphaël Corriveau were given the assists.
Saint John would tie the game at one as Oliver Cooper netted his sixth goal of the season at 12:22 of the opening frame, Stephen MacAulay and Noah Zilbert added the helpers on the goal.
The Sea Dogs took a 2-1 lead as Kevin Gagné’s point shot beat Screaming Eagles goaltender David Honzik at 15:57 of the first period, Ryan Tesink and Jakub Izacky were awarded with the assists.
Aidan Kelly secured the victory for Saint John as he scored his first goal of the season into an empty net at 18:58 of the third period, the goal was unassisted.
Sébastien Auger made 22 saves in the win for Saint John, his record improves to 15-12-0-0, while David Honzik turned aside 26 of 28 shots in the loss for Cape Breton, his record falls to 2-5-0-0.
The Screaming Eagles next game is on Friday, December 14th when the club hosts Josh Currie and the P.E.I. Rocket at Centre 200. Game time is 7pm.

Point Streak Continues: Saint John Sea Dogs defenseman Kevin Gagné extended his point streak to nine consecutive games on Tuesday night. Gagné had a goal during the first period of the game. The goal also marked a career high for Gagné, who now has 10 goals on the season.
Hits: Cape Breton Screaming Eagles defenseman Stephen Woodworth had five hits in the game, while Jonathan Oligny and Justin Haché each had three hits in the contest. Cape Breton out hit Saint John 21-13.

Cape Breton went 0/3 on the power play, while Saint John went 0/5.
