Huskies too much for Cats to handle
ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. – Fresh off a big victory over one of the QMJHL’s top squads, the Cataractes met another tough test on Sunday afternoon as they visited to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.
The Huskies took control early in the game with two first period goals. First it was Mathieu Boucher scoring at 8:16 with helpers given to Abbandonato and Wojcik. Nantel followed that up with his 20th goal of the year at 16:50. Waked and Caron got helpers.
Dennis Yan, with help from Moynihan and Sylvestre, cut the Cataractes deficit to one goal through 20 minutes of play.
After a scoreless middle period, Gabriel Gagne found the back of the net two minutes into the third period to even the contest at 2-2.
However, the Huskies followed that up with three goals as Wojcik, Greer, and Beaudin beat Philippe Cadorette and suddenly the home side lead 5-2. The third goal from Beaudin gave on a powerplay.
In the midst of killing a penalty, Allan Caron scored a shorthanded goal into the empty net to cap off a 6-2 Huskies win.
