Cataractes split weekend schedule
With two games on their schedule this weekend the Shawinigan Cataractes were looking to keep their undefeated record intact. They welcomed the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies into town on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Game one of the weekend was a tight battle with the Drakkar as the two sides battled to the end but the Cataractes came out with a 4-2 to win and remained undefeated this season.
Alexis D’Aoust and Brandon Gignac picked up their fourth goals of the year while James Phelan and Dennis Yan also got on the board. D’Aoust and Yan both added assists for multipoint nights.
Nicholas Meloche and Matteo Pietroniro were the scorers for Baie-Comeau.
Sunday afternoon was a different story as the Cataractes fell 6-1 to the Huskies giving them their first loss of the 2015-16 campaign.
James Phelan had the lone Shawinigan goal with Gabriel Sylvestre and Mathieu Olivier getting the assists.
For the Huskies, Francis Perron and Louis-Philip Cote had a pair of goals each while Alexandre Sills and Peter Abbandonato had singles. Jeremy Lauzon and Alexandre Fortin had two assists each and Jacob Neveu, Philippe Myers, Martins Dzierkels, Anthony Wojcik, Jean-Christophe Beaudin, Zachary Lauzon all got a helper each.
The Cataractes next game will be on the road as they begin a Maritime road swing in Bathurst against the Titan on October 2nd.
