Cataractes acquire Cadorette from Drakkar
Shawinigan, Que. – The Shawinigan Cataractes completed the biggest trade of this year’s QMJHL holiday trading period acquiring Philippe Cadorette from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar Thursday night. In return, the Drakkar get Antoine Samuel and a 2016 2nd round pick, originally owned by the Moncton Wildcats.
Cadorette, 20, began the year in the East Coast Hockey League with the Norfolk Admirals, coached by former Cataractes head coach Eric Veilleux. He was returned to the Drakkar in December.
In 184 career games with Baie-Comeau, the St-Hyacinthe, Que. born netminder posted a record of 107 wins and 71 losses, along with a goals-against-average of 2.82 and a save percentage of .903.
Samuel, 18, has appeared in 30 career Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games with the Cataractes, holding a record of 13 wins and 12 losses along with a 3.71 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .881. In 19 games this season, the 6-foot-2, 183-pound goaltender has a record of 10 wins and six losses.
