Alexis Lafrenière outstanding, Shawinigan loses 5-2
The Cataractes sure wanted to get the win against a team that scored 8 goals against them the last time they played each other two weeks ago. Unfortunately, Alexis Lafrenière was in great shape and completely took charge of this one as the Océanic won 5-2. The young superstar managed to score three times. For Daniel Renaud’s team, Vasily Glotov and Gabriel Denis scored and, in the net, Lucas Fitzpatrick was very impressive making 28 saves despite the loss.
The only player to beat Colten Ellis, who was very alert throughout the game, was Vasily Glotov. The Russian magician scored his team leading 24th of the season in the last seconds of the first after receiving a beautiful pass from Simon Dubois.
In the second and third period, Alexis Lafrenière scored twice to put his team up by two goals. The first goal who came in the second period was particularly impressive as his wrist shot was outstanding!
Rimouski could have scored another one but Fitzpatrick came out strong making spectacular pad saves to keep his team in the game.
Jérémy Manseau tried to shake things up when he decided to drop the gloves against Wilson Forest, showing a lot of character.
Before the end of the 3rd, Samuel Dove-McFalls jumped on rebound to put his team ahead by 3 goals. On the play, Lafrenière got an assist.
The young superstar completed his hat trick 40 seconds later.
Twelve seconds later, Gabriel Denis, who is from Gaspésie, scored when he deflected the puck with his arm in front of his family and friends.
Daniel Renaud and his players will now play 5 games in 10 days on home ground and it will start this sunday against Moncton.
