Crosby named CHL Player of the Week
Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Sidney Crosby of the Rimouski Oceanic is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday February 27 after scoring four goals and four assists for eight points in two games.
Crosby started the week with two goals and three assists in a 9-1 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on February 23. He added two goals – including the game-winner in overtime – and added an assist in a 3-2 win over the Gatineau Olympiques on February 25. Crosby helped the Oceanic extend their 17-game winning streak and 20-game undefeated streak. It’s the third time this season that Crosby has won the CHL Player of the Week award.
Bryan Little of the Barrie Colts was the OHL Player of the week after scoring four goals and eight points in three games and Eric Fehr of the Brandon Wheat Kings was the WHL Player of the Week after scoring five goals and eight points in three games. Maxime Joyal of the Quebec Remparts was the QMJHL’s Defensive Player of the Week after posting a 3-0-0 record, along with a 0.98 goals against average and .968 save percentage.
