CHL and Kubota Canada Announce Expanded Partnership
Hamilton, ON – The Canadian Hockey League is proud to announce an expanded partnership that names Kubota Canada title partner of the Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game through 2022.
The formal announcement was made in Hamilton, home of the Bulldogs, and host for the 2020 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game which will be played on Thursday January 16. The 25th annual showcase will feature 40 of the CHL’s top NHL Draft eligible players competing best-on-best before hundreds of NHL scouts in attendance and a nationwide audience on Sportsnet, TVA Sports, and the NHL Network.
“We are very excited to announce an expanded partnership with Kubota Canada because their commitment to the CHL will help make the Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game a special experience for our players and fans and allow us to continue to grow our game in communities from coast-to-coast” said CHL President Dan MacKenzie.
Kubota Canada joined the CHL family in September, 2018, as an associate partner with activations at national events, but have since become corporate partners across the OHL, WHL, QMJHL, and now support numerous clubs in association with local dealers. The expanded partnership will focus on the league’s rising stars throughout the season with a weekly feature video series highlighting 24 different top prospects leading into the NHL Draft, plus sponsorship of the CHL Top Prospect Award that will be presented in May.
“Kubota Canada and our dealers coast-to-coast are thrilled to become the title sponsor for such an elite event as Top Prospects. We have been a partner of the Canadian Hockey League for a couple of years and they have proved to us the huge value they bring to promoting our brand,” said Rob Allison, Director of Brand for Kubota Canada Ltd. “This title sponsorship will take our brand to a new level in Canada.”
Since the Top Prospects showcase was first introduced in 1996 the game has featured 14 players selected with the first overall pick in the NHL Draft including Chris Phillips (1996), Joe Thornton (1997), Vincent Lecavalier (1998), Rick Nash (2002), Marc-Andre Fleury (2003), Patrick Kane (2007), Steven Stamkos (2008), John Tavares (2009), Taylor Hall (2010), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (2011), Nathan MacKinnon (2013), Aaron Ekblad (2014), Connor McDavid (2015), and Nico Hischier (2017).
