Michel Briere Trophy — Most Valuable Player
Mathieu Cataford — Halifax Mooseheads
Halifax’s Cataford (VGK) finished third in the QMJHL scoring race with 90 points (40 goals) in 65 games while he also recorded a +43 rating. Furthermore, Catatord won 58.1 per cent of his faceoffs.
Patrick Roy Trophy — Goaltender of the Year
William Rousseau — Rouyn-Noranda Huskies
The inaugural Patrick Roy Trophy has been given to Rousseau after a stellar campaign for the Huskies. Rousseau went 34-10-5 with a 2.24 GAA and .924 save percentage. Additionally, he recorded eight shutouts to establish a new QMJHL single-season record.
Emile Bouchard Trophy — Defenceman of the Year
Vsevolod Komarov — Drummondville Voltigeurs
Komarov led the QMJHL in scoring in 2023-24 with 69 points in 60 games. Komarov began the year in Quebec where last year he scored the game-winner in the 2023 Memorial Cup final and had 19 points in 22 games. After he was traded to Drummondville, he put up 50 points ((11 goals) in 38 games.
Ron Lapointe Trophy — Head Coach of the Year / Maurice Filion Trophy — General Manager of the Year
Jean-François Grégoire — Baie-Comeau Drakkar
Behind the bench, Grégoire led the Drakkar to a franchise record 53 wins and 109 points in 2023-24. His squad finished first in the league in goals against (163 goals), third on offence (290 goals) and on the penalty kill (81.2 per cent) and fourth on the power play (25.7 per cent).
As general manager, Grégoire’s moves included getting Jules and Raoul Boilard to commit to the CHL instead of the NCAA while he also acquired Justin Gill (NYI) from Drummondville. He also acquired Julien Paillé, Donovan Arsenault, Angus Booth (LA) and Charles-Édward Gravel over the course of the last year.
Marcel Robert Trophy — Scholastic Player of the Year
Alexis Morin — Chicoutimi Sagueneens
Morin recently earned his CÉGEP diploma in natural sciences with an average that was close to 95 per cent all this while having had to adapt to two different CÉGEP establishments: Drummondville and Chicoutimi, as he was traded from the Voltigeurs to the Saguenéens in January 2023. Known for his outstanding organization and excellent communication skills, Morin is now aiming to study law or medicine at McGill University. On the ice, Morin had a career year in 2023-24 with 29 goals and 57 points.
Guy Carbonneau Trophy — Top Defensive Forward
Felix Gagnon — Baie-Comeau Drakkar
Gagnon had 21 goals and 58 points in as many games while he registered a +43 rating for the Drakkar. He also led the QMJHL in faceoff percentage at 64 per cent while his 882 wins in the circle were the second most.
Kevin Lowe Trophy — Top Defensive Defenceman
Mikael Diotte — Drummondville Voltigeurs
Diotte (NJ) finished the season with the second best +/- rating in the QMJHL at +55 while he also recorded 42 points from the Volts blue line. His successful overage season also saw him pen an NHL entry-level contract with New Jersey in March as a free agent.
Paul Dumont Trophy — QMJHL Personality of the Year
Emile Chouinard — Baie-Comeau Drakkar / Jacob Newcombe — Cape Breton Eagles
Handed out to the individual who provides a positive media impact and helps contribute to the well-being of the QMJHL’s image, Chouinard and Newcombe each had incredible stories of perseverance in 2023-24.
Chouinard played 45 games, where he had a +38 rating and 14 points, for the Drakkar but his regular season ended early after he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. However, he returned to the lineup in Game 3 of Baie-Comeau’s first round series with Charlottetown.
Diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the offseason, Newcombe returned to Cape Breton’s lineup Jan. 18 and recorded 24 points (11 goals) in 26 games.
Michael Bossy Trophy — QMJHL Top Professional Prospect
Maxime Massé — Chicoutimi Sagueneens
The 2022-23 CHL Rookie of the Year, Massé had 36 goals and 75 points ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft. Massé was recently listed as the 30th North American prospect in NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings.
QMJHL Humanitarian of the Year
Marcus Kearsey — Charlottetown Islanders
Kearsey’s off-ice work saw him spearhead several community programs including the creation of the Kearsey’s Kids program ‘to give back to kids who aren’t as fortunate as I am’ and invited a child to every Islanders home game.
Kearsey also represented the team in the ‘Hockey Gives Blood’ campaign, got involved with Charlottetown’s Humaine Society Animal Shelter to encourage adoption, participated in several minor hockey practices and a ball hockey tournament, helped promote the 24Strong dance studio, donated his time to the Make a Wish Foundation and met with youngsters at Corner Brook Intermediate to talk about combining sports and studies.
On the ice, the 2024 NHL Draft prospect recorded 49 points in 68 games.
Frank J. Selke Trophy — QMJHL Sportsmanlike Player of the Year
Preston Lounsbury — Moncton Wildcats
Lounsbury recorded just six penalty minutes in 68 games this season for Moncton. Offensively, he tallied a career high 19 goals and 57 points to finish tied third in team scoring.
Raymond Lagace Trophy — QMJHL Defensive Rookie of the Year
Xavier Villeneuve — Blainville-Boisbriand Armada
In his rookie campaign, Villeneuve recorded 43 points (eight goals) in 54 games to lead all first-year defencemen in scoring. The Armada selected Villeneuve seventh overall in the 2023 QMJHL Draft.

Émile Guité — Chicoutimi Sagueneens
For the second straight year, a Sagueneens players has claimed the award after Maxim Massé was honoured a year ago. Guite, the second overall pick in the 2023 QMJHL Draft, had 57 points in 61 games to finish second in rookie scoring. Guite also placed second in goals scored among Q rookies with 25.
