Eight CHL players named to Slovakia’s 2026 preliminary World Juniors rosters
Eight CHL players have been named to Slovakia’s preliminary roster for the 2026 World Juniors.
Of the players selected, three each come from the OHL and WHL with two from the QMJHL.
The OHL representatives include forwards Jan Chovan (Sudbury), Alex Misiak (Erie) and Tomas Pobezal (Kingston) while the WHL contingent is made up of defencemen Michal Capos (Wenatchee) and Matus Lisy (Red Deer) as well as forward Tobias Tomik (Vancouver). The QMJHL’s two players are d-man Filip Kovalcik (Drummondville) and forward Andreas Straka (Quebec).
Slovakia has reached the quarterfinals in each of the previous three editions of the tournament and have medalled twice in tournament history having collected bronze in 1999 and 2015. In 2026. they are in Group A alongside Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany.
