OHL officials selected for NHL rookie tournament
Three Ontario Hockey League officials have been selected by the National Hockey League to work the NHL Rookie Tournament which will be held in Kitchener from September 13 to 15.
Referee Dave Lewis as well as linesmen Kendrick Nicholson and Ryan Lachine will suit-up for the three-day tournament that features the Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Lewis also participated in the North American Officiating Program of Merit last month along with OHL linesmen T.J. Luxmore and Dustin McCrank.
The North American Officiating Program of Merit was held in St. Cloud, MN from July 7-13, 2008. 22 officials from Canada and the United States officiated games in the USA Select 17 tournament while NHL Officiating Managers watch and provide them with feedback. These are officials were identified with the potential skills to advance to higher levels of the game.
