Hurricanes’ Jaimen Yakubowski Named CHL Player of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Jaimen Yakubowski of the Lethbridge Hurricanes is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 9 after scoring six goals and three assists for nine points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-5.
Yakubowski claims the award after receiving back-to-back WHL Player of the Week honours. His week was highlighted by an impressive five-goal performance where he was named first star despite an 8-7 shootout loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday night. Yakubowski, an 18-year-old from Dalmeny, SK, is playing in his second full WHL season with the Hurricanes. In 35 games so far this season, he ranks 29th in WHL scoring with 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points.
Also considered for the award this week was Phillip Danault of the Victoriaville Tigres who scored one goal and seven assists for eight points in two games, and defenceman Ryan O’Connor of the Barrie Colts who scored four goals and three assists for seven points in two games.
