Winterhawks’ Adin Hill named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
Wednesday January 7, 2015
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Adin Hill of the Portland Winterhawks is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending January 4 after posting a 2-1-0-0 record with two shutout victories along with a goals-against-average of 0.67 and save percentage of .978.
Hill earned his first two career shutouts in back-to-back games last week backstopping the Winterhawks to a pair of victories to keep pace in the tight U.S Division. While his week began last Wednesday with a 26-save effort despite a 2-1 loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds, Hill rebounded on Saturday turning aside all 35 shots he faced earning first star honours in a 3-0 win over the Tri-City Americans. Hill finished the week by earning first star honours again on Sunday with 29 saves to blank the Thunderbirds by a 4-0 score.
Hill, an 18-year-old from Calgary, AB, is playing in his first full WHL season with the Winterhawks. In 18 appearances this season, Hill carries a 10-5-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 2.44 that ranks third in the WHL along with a save percentage of .934 that leads all goaltenders.
Also considered for the award this week was Sebastien Auger of the Saint John Sea Dogs who posted a 3-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.67 and save percentage of .944, and 2015 NHL Draft prospect Mackenzie Blackwood of the Barrie Colts who went 4-0-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 2.00 and save percentage of .935.
