Position Summary
The Manager Analytics & Marketing is responsible for developing compelling sales proposals, conducting thorough analytics to inform sales strategies, and managing data across various platforms. This role combines creativity with data-driven insights to enhance the effectiveness of our sales efforts and drive revenue growth. The successful candidate will illustrate the ability to understand and apply how consumer and fan data can drive affinity between the WHL and partner brands.
The WHL’s recent launch of key priorities aimed at advancing the League’s presence on and off the ice, this position plays a crucial role in building a stronger commercial ecosystem and fostering collaboration among hockey and community partners.
Organizational Key Priorities

Duties and Responsibilities
- Data Analysis
- Conduct detailed analysis of sales and broadcast data, market trends, and competitor activity to identify opportunities.
- Develop and maintain reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and sales metrics.
- Social Media Analysis
- Monitor and analyze social media performance to gauge audience engagement and campaign effectiveness.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on social media analytics to optimize future campaigns.
- Research and Alignment
- Research and identify companies that align with specific assets and partnership opportunities within the League.
- Proposal Development
- Collaborate with the partnership team to gather information and ensure proposals accurately reflect initiatives suited to potential partners.
- Create and customize high-quality partnership proposals that meet client needs and align with company goals.
- ROI Reporting
- Track proof of performance of contractual assets and earned media
- Prepare custom end of season ROI reports for corporate partners
- Ad Trafficking
- Oversee the trafficking of digital advertisements, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
- Analyze ad performance data and optimize campaigns to maximize ROI.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 2 years experience in analyst or corporate partnership environment.
- Proven experience in sales proposal development using Canva.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Google Analytics, HubSport, Salesforce, Pando Partner, Hootsuite, Zoomph).
- Familiarity with social media platforms and analytics tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and a creative mindset.
- Familiarity with sports marketing/corporate partnerships landscape.

SENIOR MANAGER, HOCKEY OPERATIONS

Position: Full Time, Salary
Location: WHL Office (Calgary, AB)
The WHL’s Senior Manager, Hockey Operations is a critical role at the League’s head office in Calgary, AB that leads a variety of aspects of the League’s Hockey oriented activities with respect to Member Clubs, partner hockey organizations, national and regional governing bodies as well as select on-ice licensing suppliers.
The WHL recently launched a new set of priorities that are designed to create a unified approach to advancing the state of the League on and off the ice. Those key priorities include:
- Maintaining the League’s position as the best development League in the world
- Establishing a stronger commercial ecosystem built to grow the relevance and presence for the League with fans across Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest USA
- Engage partners at the Canadian Hockey League, and Ontario (OHL) and Quebec (QMJHL) Leagues as well as the WHL Clubs to create an environment of enablement and collaboration – working with one another to celebrate and socialize best practices in the spirit of growing the impact of the League in our communities and beyond.
This position is connected directly to the first priority and revolves around maintaining an exceptional operating standard at the League office, communicating with stakeholders across a variety of topics, and influencing strategies and plans to elevate the Player Experience, the League’s competitive parity, while supporting the League’s core tenets around player education and player development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead WHL’s player registry including but not limited to:
- Roster compliance for all Clubs at all key cutoffs and milestones
- Data management and administration of all player and roster info via League technology supplier, HockeyTech
- Administration of all player transactions, and other in-season player movement
- Actively manage annual updating and distribution of WHL Regulations Manual and WHL Operations manual, the documents that guide Clubs on consistent operations and compliance with League regulations.
- Act as lead WHL liaison with select committees and workgroups including WHL Team Services Committee
- Involvement in the WHL scheduling process
- Oversee the coordination, agenda, and management of periodic meetings including WHL’s annual Trainers’ Meeting and bi-annual Leadership Conference.
- Attend, participate in, and administrative support for WHL General Managers’ Meetings
- Lead and influence WHL’s relationship with Provincial Branch organizations (BC Hockey, Hockey Alberta, Hockey Saskatchewan, Hockey Manitoba)
- Manage WHL’s relationship with strategic partners including CSSHL and Okanagan Hockey Group
- Collaborate with WHL Clubs on hockey-related inquiries, troubleshooting, and compliance
- Support interactions between WHL Clubs and League-wide equipment and uniform suppliers as necessary
- Manage at least one member of the Hockey Operations team and create an environment for enrichment and growth
- Deliver annual WHL Trainers’ Directory and other key documents and guides to support continued operations
- Participate in and responsible for minute-taking in some League and WHL Committee meetings
- Engage on technology-related platforms including the publishing of the League (and Clubs’) schedules, rosters, as well as the WHL’s interaction with data and statistics suppliers in conjunction with CHL
Qualifications/Requirements
- Familiarity with the elements and aspects associated with hockey operations of either Junior A, Major Junior, Collegiate, Semi-professional, or Professional hockey organization
- Five (5) or more years experience in relevant, hockey-related roles
- Experience with player registries, Hockey Canada Registry, HockeyTech, or comparable environments
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), comfort with conflict resolution and problem solving
- University/College Degree strongly preferred
- Hockey operations work experience preferred
- Expertise and comfort with technology platforms including Powerpoint, Excel, Word, MS Teams, or equivalents
- Willingness to travel – predominantly in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest

Company Overview: Members of the Western Hockey League (WHL) since joining the league in 1967-68 season, Brandon Wheat Kings is a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Brandon, Manitoba. Successor to the Brandon Wheat City senior team which participated in the 1904 Stanley Cup challenge, the team known as the Brandon Elks in the 1930s won eight Turnbull Cup Championships and appeared in the Memorial Cup six times in 1979, 1995, 1996, 2010 and 2016.
Position Description: Reporting to the VP of Business Operations, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the promotion and growth of one of Manitoba’s most iconic sports teams. The Marketing Assistant will support the execution of marketing initiatives across various platforms, including social media, print marketing, and digital signage. This role also involves assisting with sponsorship recognition efforts, game day marketing, and promotional activities, working closely with the marketing team to enhance fan engagement and promote the Wheat Kings brand.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the creation and scheduling of engaging social media content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), and TikTok.
• Support the development and distribution of print marketing materials, including game programs, signage, and posters.
• Update digital signage to ensure timely and accurate content.
• Collaborate on sponsorship recognition activities, including in-game, signage, and social media mentions.
• Provide support for game day communications and promotions, including event setup, fan engagement activities, and ensuring smooth execution of in-game marketing initiatives. Digital Lineups as well as Media Kits will be required.
• Conduct basic research and reporting on marketing trends, analytics, and campaign performance. Training will be provided.
• Ensure brand consistency across all marketing channels.
General
• Work in collaboration with the Business/Hockey divisions and J&G Group centralized services team for day-to-day operations.
• Contribute to a vibrant and upbeat work environment.

Education/Skill Requirements:
- Education or experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills is a must.

- Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, including evenings and weekends for game days.
- A passion for sports and knowledge of hockey is a must.
- Is accountable and takes responsibility/ownership for feedback on self-performance from customers and management.
