WARRIORS’ HUNT NAMED WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Moose Jaw Warriors forward Dryden Hunt has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 14th, 2016.
Hunt recorded nine points (6g-3a) in three games to lead the Moose Jaw Warriors to a perfect record of 3-0-0-0 for the week.
On Wednesday, February 10th against the Prince Albert Raiders, Hunt scored three times to pick up the hat-trick and claim first star honours as the Warriors earned a 4-2 victory. On Friday, February 12th, Hunt tallied two points (1g-1a) to help guide the Warriors to a 6-4 win against the Swift Current Broncos. The following night, Hunt capped off a productive week with a four point (2g-2a) outing against the Saskatoon Blades in a 7-4 victory. Hunt was named the game’s first star for his efforts.
The 20-year-old Nelson, BC native has collected 88 points (41g-47a) in 57 games this season to sit first overall in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. The 6-0, 201 lb forward is in his fifth WHL campaign and has amassed 221 points (100g-121a) in 254 career WHL regular season contests.
The WHL has also nominated Connor Ingram of the Kamloops Blazersfor the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week award. Ingram, a 1997-born netminder from Imperial, SK posted a record of 3-0-0-0 with a 1.64 goals against average and a .955 save percentage with one shutout. On Monday, February 8th, Ingram turned aside 36 shots to propel the Kamloops Blazers to a 3-2 victory against the Calgary Hitmen. Ingram was named the game’s first star for his performance. On Friday, February 12th against the Vancouver Giants, Ingram notched his third shutout of the season as he stopped all 34 shots he faced in the Blazers 5-0 win. Ingram claimed first star honours for the second straight game. The following night, Ingram earned another first star mention as he turned aside 35 shots to guide the Blazers to a 4-3 overtime victory against the Vancouver Giants. Currently in his second WHL campaign with Kamloops, Ingram has posted a 44-34-7-6 record with six shutouts in 99 career WHL regular season appearances.
