Don Hay 743 celebration night set for February 16
Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers will be hosting a special pre-game ceremony on Friday, February 16th vs. Kelowna to celebrate Head Coach, Don Hay becoming the winningest coach in WHL History.
Hay became the winningest coach in WHL history after the Blazers defeated the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday, January 27th. It was Hay’s 743rd victory as a head coach, surpassing former Winterhawks head coach Ken Hodge who finished his coaching career with 742 wins in 1992-93.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Don’s milestone,” commented President/COO, Don Moores. “He was born and raised in Kamloops and to be able to accomplish this rare feat with his hometown team is something to be celebrated and remembered.”
The first 4,000 fans through the door will receive a specialty puck that recognizes Don Hay becoming the Winningest Coach in WHL History and is sponsored by Warner Rentals.
“This milestone is a team accomplishment and recognition to all the tremendous players and staff I’ve been fortunate to work with,” commented Head Coach, Don Hay. “This celebration is for the community. When you grow up here and have lived all your life here, you feel that a lot of the Kamloops community has helped in this achievement.”
