MOOSE JAW AND VANCOUVER COMPLETE TRADE
The Moose Jaw Warriors acquire 1996-born defenceman Josh Thrower and a fifth round pick in 2017 from the Vancouver Giants in exchange for 1997-born defenceman Tyler Brown, 1999-born blue liner Marcus Kichton and a second round pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
Thrower, 6’1 199lbs, is from Squamish, BC and was originally selected by the Calgary Hitmen in the second round of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. In 40 games this season, Thrower has nine assists and 59 penalty minutes. In four seasons in the WHL, Thrower has played in 211 games, picking up six goals, 34 points, and 279 penalty minutes.
Brown, who hails from East Olympia, Washington, was a fifth round pick of the Warriors in 2012. The 18-year-old has played 136 career games in Moose Jaw, scoring three goals, 24 assists and adding 85 penalty minutes.
Kichton was selected by the Warriors in the second round of the 2014 Bantam Draft. The Spruce Grove, Alberta native has spent this season with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, tallying three points in 37 games to go along with 16 penalty minutes. He is the younger brother of former Spokane Chief Brenden Kichton.
