Wild netminder Hauser named WHL Goaltender of the Week
Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League announced today Wenatchee Wild netminder Daniel Hauser has been named WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 22, 2023.
Hauser, 19, went 1-1-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average, .970 save percentage, and one shutout this past week.
The 5-foot-11, 156-pound puckstopper started the week Wednesday, October 18 by making 26 saves on 28 shots as the Wild fell to the Tri-City Americans by a 2-1 score.
The product of Chestermere, Alta., bounced back Friday, October 20, turning aside all 39 shots sent his way to collect his first shutout of the season while backstopping the Wild to a 4-0 victory over the Vancouver Giants. Hauser was named the First Star of the game for his performance.
Through nine games this season, the veteran goaltender is 3-5-1-0 with a 3.56 GAA, .906 SV% and one shutout.
Originally selected by the Winnipeg ICE in the sixth round (120th overall) of the 2019 WHL Draft, Hauser has appeared in 99 career WHL Regular Season contests, going 81-12-4-0 with a 2.35 GAA, .913 SV% and 11 shutouts. He was named the WHL’s East Division First All-Star Team in back-to-back seasons (2021-22, 2022-23).
Daniel Hauser and the Wenatchee Wild return to action Tuesday, October 24 (6 p.m. PT) when they host the Kamloops Blazers at Town Toyota Center.
