- On Apr. 29, 1989, the Swift Current Broncos hoisted their first League title and became the only Club in WHL history to win every single game in the playoffs; their 12-game winning streak included sweeps over Moose Jaw, Saskatoon and Portland
- The Victoria Cougars captured the WHL Championship after rallying from a 3-1 series deficit versus the Calgary Wranglers; Terry Sydoryk scored the winner with 1:53 left in game seven on May 1, 1981 as the Cougars won by a score of 4-2
