Red Deer Rebels prospect Joel Lowry named AMHL Player of the Month for January
The Alberta Midget Hockey League announced today that Red Deer Rebels prospect Joel Lowry, of the Calgary Buffaloes, has been named one of the Source for Sports AMHL Players of the Month for January.
The Source for Sports Players of the Month for January are:
Forward Joel Lowry of the Calgary Buffaloes (Chrysler Division) Joel has provided the Buffaloes 5 solid efforts in 5 games in January. He was the most reliable player in the Buffaloes line-up – scoring 3 goals and adding 5 assists in 5 games. Joel’s knowledge for the game of hockey has been very beneficial in the Buffaloes dressing room, along with his willingness to lead the team on the ice – whether he is blocking a shot or taking a hit.
Forward Ian Grant of the Leduc Schwab GM Oil Kings (Dodge Division) Ian played has a major part of Leduc’s January success (4-2-1) scoring 5 goals and adding 8 assists for 13 pts. The intangibles and work ethic that Ian brings to the rink have been crucial to his team’s success. Ian is the team’s top face-off man at close to 65%, and is an exceptional penalty killer as well he has helped rejuvenate the powerplay. Ian is counted on in every late game situation and most importantly is an integral leader both on and off the ice
Both players received a Hundred (100) dollar gift certificate from the Source for Sports Dealers of Alberta, a Timex Watch imprinted with the AMHL logo and a commemorative plaque from the Alberta ‘AAA’ Midget Hockey League. Every player nominated, from the other sixteen teams in the league, received a $50.00 gift certificate from the Source for Sports Dealers of Alberta.
