Rebels’ Nogier Signs ELC With Jets
The Winnipeg Jets announced the signing of defenceman Nelson Nogier to a three-year entry-level contract on Wednesday. Currently a member of the Red Deer Rebels, Nogier recently competed in the 2016 MasterCard Memorial Cup. The national championship was Nogier’s second as he previously suited up at the event in 2013 with the Saskatoon Blades.
A native of Saskatoon, SK, Nogier was selected by the Jets in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Draft. This season, Nogier recorded career highs of 21 points (4g-17a) in 69 regular season games to go along with a plus-27 rating as well as four points (2g-2a) in 17 WHL Playoff games. In total, the blueliner has recorded 50 points (8g-42a) in 235 career WHL regular season games.
Named the 2013-14 WHL Scholastic Player of the Year, Nogier was selected by the Saskatoon Blades in the fourth round, 71st overall, of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.
