Raiders announce leadership group for 2023-24 season
In advance of their 2023-24 regular season opener, the Prince Albert Raiders have named Eric Johnston as captain.
Johnston, who hails from Regina, Sask., becomes the 48th captain in franchise history.
The 19-year-old is set to begin his third WHL season and his second full season with the Raiders after being acquired from the Edmonton Oil Kings in 2021-22.
“When looking at announcing leadership, you’re asking for characteristics of what a Prince Albert Raider is. He is extremely hard-working, he is accountable to himself, he holds others accountable, and he has taken guys under his wing and treated everyone so well since he got here, “said Raiders head coach Jeff Truitt.
Originally selected by the Oil Kings in the sixth round of the 2019 WHL Draft, Johnston has recorded 28 points (5G-23A) in 125 career WHL regular season games with Edmonton and Prince Albert.
Johnston will be joined in the Raiders’ leadership group by alternate captains Niall Crocker and Sloan Stanick.
