Pats maintain momentum as top club in CHL
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced the Week 18 edition of the CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2016-17 season. The weekly rankings of the CHL’s Top-10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.
The Regina Pats hold strong in top spot once again. After falling to the Medicine Hat Tigers in a high-scoring affair, the Pats bounced back with wins over the Swift Current Broncos and Brandon Wheat Kings. Next up, the Pats travel to Calgary for a Friday date with the Hitmen on WHL on Shaw. This marks the 17th week the Pats have been listed among the CHL’s best.
The Everett Silvertips edge up to third after spending a week in the No. 4 slot. After wins over the Seattle Thunderbirds and Tri-City Americans, the Silvertips dropped a shootout decision to the Spokane Chiefs, but collected points in three consecutive outings last week to remain atop the U.S. Division. Next up, Everett hosts the Portland Winterhawks on Friday. This is the 15th week the Silvertips have been ranked in the CHL Top 10.
The Prince George Cougars also inch one rank up the charts from last week, moving from eighth to seventh in the CHL Top 10. The Cougars edged the Portland Winterhawks in a shootout before falling to the Moose Jaw Warriors in regulation and the Kamloops Blazers in overtime. Most recently, Prince George scored an exciting shootout win over the Vancouver Giants. Next on the calendar for the Cougars is a Friday road date with the Red Deer Rebels. This is the 17th week in the CHL Top 10 for the Cougars.
Once again, the Medicine Hat Tigers round out WHL representation with an honurable mention.
