Oil Kings alternate captain Finnie commits to Niagara University
Edmonton, Alta.- Edmonton Oil Kings alternate captain Marshall Finnie has announced his commitment to Niagara University.
Finnie- who celebrates his 21st birthday today- will join the Purple Eagles for the 2025-26 season after closing out his WHL eligibility.
“I would like to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches for all that they have done for me,” Finnie said. “I am excited to continue my athletic and academic career at Niagara University!”
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound centre has nine goals (including three game-winners) and nine assists for 18 points in 31 contests with the Oil Kings this season and is currently on a four-game point streak.

Finnie, who hails from Lethbridge, Alta., has put up 38 goals and 43 assists for 81 points in 162 regular-season games since joining the Oil Kings as a free agent in 2022-23.
He recently attended the Toronto Maple Leafs rookie camp as a free agent.
Edmonton (18-14-1-1) has won seven of its last 10 games to sit fourth in the congested Central Division standings.
Finnie and company will travel south to take on his hometown Lethbridge Hurricanes (19-12-1-1) on Friday, January 3 at 7:00 p.m. MST.
