Inaugural Centre ICE Summit Officiating Development Camp opportunity
The Western Hockey League is pleased to announce a very special officiating development opportunity.
From August 6 to 12, the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup will be held in Edmonton, Alta., coinciding with the inaugural Centre ICE Summit. This bi-annual gathering of leaders from around the hockey world will see representatives from the International Ice Hockey Federation, National Hockey League, and Western Hockey League gather in Edmonton for a series of meetings and clinics.
A special on-ice session is being planned for WHL Officials and prospect officials on the morning of Friday, August 10. This special on-ice session will be delivered by Dave Smith, NHL Officials Director of Fitness.
Following the on-ice sessions, a classroom presentation and discussion will be held, featuring Stephen Walkom and Al Kimmel from the NHL; Danny Kurmann, Marta Zawadzka, and Sergej Gontcharov from the IIHF, as well as Tommy Kowal and Kevin Muench from the WHL.
This represents a tremendous opportunity for WHL Officials and prospect officials to develop skating skills and be observed by key representatives from the NHL, IIHF, and WHL.
Space is limited so those interested are encouraged to apply early to attend this unique development and exposure opportunity.
