Everett acquires Vaughan, Regina adds first-round pick in weekend trade
The Everett Silvertips have added forward Jaxsin Vaughan from the Regina Pats in exchange for forward Caden Brown and a 2025 first-round pick.
Vaughan, 18, has two goals and five assists in 15 games this season and had been serving as an alternate captain for the Pats.
“Jaxsin plays a strong and physical power forward game,” Silvertips General Manager Mike Fraser said. “He brings good energy and ability. We’re excited to see what he can do in a Silvertips jersey.”
The 6-foot-1, 201-pound forward attended Anaheim Ducks camp over the summer and has previously represented Canada at the 2022 U17 World Challenge.
Vaughn, from Merrit, B.C., tallied 15 goals and 10 assists in 51 games in his second full season in Regina in 2023-24.
Everett still has one first-round pick for the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.
Meanwhile, the Pats, who recently played the 5000th game in franchise history, look forward to seeing Brown’s offensive upside.
“We are pleased to add Caden Brown to our hockey club,” Regina Pats General Manager Alan Millar said of the 6-foot, 194-pound forward. “Caden brings skill to our team, and we look forward to him helping our team generate offense. We are also very pleased to continue to build valuable draft capital with the addition of a first-round pick.”
The 19-year-old has four goals and four assists in 14 games with Everett in 2024-25.
A Fort St. John, B.C. product, Brown put up 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 37 games last year.
Regina now has two first-round picks in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.
The Pats return to the Brandt Centre to face the Tri-City Americans on Wednesday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. ST.
Everett will host the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the league’s second Wednesday Night in the Dub game, which will stream for free on WHL Live and the Western Hockey League’s YouTube Channel at 7:05 p.m. PST.
