Cougars advance to Second Round of 2024 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien

The Prince George Cougars have advanced to the Second Round of the 2024 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien.

Prince George moves on after beating the Spokane Chiefs 4-0 in the 2024 Western Conference Quarterfinal (6-1, 7-4, 4-2, 3-2)

This marks the first time the Cougars have defeated the Chiefs in the postseason, with Spokane defeating Prince George in the 2000 and 1998 playoffs.

The Cats completed the sweep with a 3-2 comeback win on Wednesday, April 4.

Conner Roulette had both goals for the Chiefs in his final game of major junior hockey.

Regular season leading goal-scorer Zac Funk buried the game-winner and his third of the postseason on a second-period powerplay.

The Washington Capitals prospect led the B.C. Division champions with three goals, five assists and a +2 rating in Round One.

Goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen, who did not play in Game 4, led Prince George with a 3-0-0-0 record, 2.33 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.

The Cougars, who are the top seed in the Western Conference,  have made it to Round Two for a second straight year.

Prince George was swept by the eventual champion Seattle Thunderbirds in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinal.

The Cougars remain the top seed in the Western Conference playoff picture and will take on the lowest-seeded Western opponent in Round Two.
