Chiefs, Giants confirm Round One matchup in 2025 WHL Playoffs
The Spokane Chiefs and Vancouver Giants are primed for a dramatic showdown in Round One of the 2025 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien.
Spokane (45-20-1-2) has locked down the third seed in the Western Conference after a dominant season that saw the Chiefs become the second-highest-scoring team in the WHL.
Led by WHL leading scorer and Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall (48G-84A, 132 points) and Seattle Kraken prospect Berkly Catton (38G-71A, 109 points), Spokane is one of only two teams to feature two 100-plus point players.
Vancouver (33-26-8-0) locked in the sixth seed position by nature of a Tri-City loss to the Chiefs on Saturday night.
The Giants feature six 20-plus goal scorers, highlighted by top 2025 NHL Draft prospect Cameron Schmidt, who is tied for sixth among all WHLers with 40 lamp-lighters with one game left to play.
Captain Mazden Leslie is also in the midst of a career-best season.
The 6-foot-1, 202-pound blueliner is second among all defencemen in goals (21) and points 72).
Vancouver will have their work cut out for them with Spokane leading the regular-season series 4-0-0-0.
Spokane is also working to advance past the first round for the first time since 2019, when they were eliminated by none other than the Giants in the Western Conference Championship.
The unique series will see Games 1 and 2 played in Langley due to a building scheduling conflict in Spokane.
Game 1 will go from the Langley Events Centre on Friday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
The series will move to the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena for Game 3 on Wednesday, April 2 at 7:05 p.m. PST.
If necessary, Games 3 and 7 will be held in Spokane since the Chiefs have earned home-ice advantage as the higher seed.
