Broncos ink Los Angeles Kings prospect Dvorak
Swift Current, Sask.- The Swift Current blueline is getting another injection of size and physicality.
2005-born import defenceman Jakub Dvorak has signed with the Broncos, the club announced Tuesday.
“We are excited to add Jakub to our lineup,” said Broncos General Manager Chad Leslie. “He skates extremely well, and makes simple easy plays and has the ability to play a lot of minutes for us right away.”
The 6-foot-5, 203-pound blueliner has spent the past two seasons in his native Czechia’s top professional league.
He’s potted two goals, an assist, and a plus-20 rating in 19 contests this season with the Bili Tygri Liberec club.
The Liberec, Czechia product was selected by Swift Current 22nd overall in the 2022 CHL Import Draft.
At 18 years old, Dvorak has plenty of international experience under his belt. He captained Czechia’s U18 squad at the 2022-23 World U-18 Championship, where he tallied a goal and two assists in five outings. He also earned three points in five games with Team Czechia at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
The Los Angeles King picked Dvorak in the second round, 54th overall at the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. He signed his entry-level deal with the club on July 14, 2023 and attended his first Kings development camp shortly afterward.
The Broncos (18-14-2-2) have points in three straight games and look to continue the trend when they visit Lethbridge (17-15-3-0) on January 3.
Dvorak has arrived in Swift Current and is expected to make his debut in the coming week.
