21 WHL prospects medal at 2024 TELUS Cup
Membertou, N.S.- Twenty-one Western Hockey League prospects are returning home with some fresh hardware in tow after medaling at Canada’s men’s U18 National Championship, the TELUS Cup.
The U18AAA Brandon Wheat Kings, which features 15 players listed or drafted by WHL clubs, came away with a silver medal after falling 4-1 to the champion Cantonniers de Magog in the title match.
Easton Odut scored the Wheat King’s lone goal, with the assist coming from Brady Turko.
Both players were selected by Brandon in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.
Turko was also named the tournament’s Most Sportsmanlike Player.

The Calgary Buffaloes clinched the bronze medal in a thrilling 4-3 shootout win over the Markham Waxers.
Wenatchee Wild prospect Christian Stephenson led the way for the Buffaloes by scoring a late shorthanded goal to force overtime and adding an assist, while Everett Silvertips draft pick Rhys Jamieson netted an assist and the shootout-winner.
Saskatoon Blades prospect Cooper Williams also tallied a pair of assists in the victory.
2023 Wheat Kings first-round pick Jaxon Jacobson led all WHL prospects in points at the tournament, clocking in at fifth overall with a goal and 11 assists for 12 points in seven matches.
Turko finished as the top Western scorer with eight goals and three assists for 11 points in seven games, good for third overall in goals and sixth overall in points.
