2024 WHL Playoff Clinching Scenarios: March 8
Three squads can confirm their participation in the 2024 WHL Playoffs on Friday, March 8.
The Vancouver Giants can clinch a playoff berth if:
Vancouver wins in any fashion against Prince George OR
Vancouver loses in overtime or a shootout to Prince George AND Tri-City loses in overtime or a shootout to Wenatchee OR
Tri-City loses to Wenatchee in regulation
The Kelowna Rockets can clinch a playoff berth if:
Kelowna wins in any fashion against Kamloops OR
Kelowna loses in overtime or a shootout to Kamloops AND Tri-City loses in overtime or a shootout to Wenatchee OR
Tri-City loses to Wenatchee in regulation
The Swift Current Broncos can clinch a playoff berth if:
Calgary loses to Red Deer in any fashion
Swift Current (34-20-4-2) sits fourth in the Eastern Conference standings and is idle until Saturday. Calgary (26-27-7-1) will be fighting for its playoff life when Red Deer (31-22-2-6) visits the Scotiabank Saddledome at 7:00 p.m. MST on Friday. Vancouver (29-27-4-0) and Kelowna (29-28-3-1) sit sixth and seventh in the Western Conference, respectively. Vancouver visits the B.C. Division-leading Cougars (41-15-1-3) at 7:00 p.m. PST, while Kelowna looks for points in seven straight games when it welcomes the Blazers (20-25-3-3) to Prospera Place at 7:05 p.m. PST. Tri-City (22-35-2-1) hosts Wenatchee (31-25-4-0) at 7:05 p.m. PST.
