WHL Playoffs Top Performer: March 30, 2024
With two goals during the Everett Silvertips’ Game Two triumph against the visiting Vancouver Giants, forward Austin Roest has been named the WHL Playoffs Top Performer for March 30, 2024.
Roest, a crafty four-year WHL veteran, nabbed both goals in the Silvertips’ 2-1 win on Saturday night. His first marker came from a close-range redirection of a centring pass from teammate, Tarin Smith, in the first period. The product of Coldstream, B.C., then grabbed his second of the night — and the eventual game-winning-goal — by tucking a cross-crease dish past Giants’ netminder Brett Mirwald early into the second frame.
Being held off the scoresheet in Game One, Roest currently has two goals through two appearances at the 2024 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien.

His two-goal outing was also enough to secure Roest as the first star of the night.
Through 13 career post-season games with the Silvertips, Roest has collected six goals and four assists for 10 points.
Tonight marked the second time Roest has recorded a multi-goal game during the WHL Playoffs, with his first performance coming on March 31, 2023, against the Portland Winterhawks (two goals—one assist). However, tonight was the first time the 20-year-old recorded a game-winner during the post-season.
In June 2023, Roest was selected in the sixth round (175th overall) by the Nashville Predators at the NHL Draft. Alongside teammates Ben Hemmerling (Vegas Golden Knights) and Kaden Hammell (Seattle Kraken), the Preds representative is one of three NHL prospects featured on the Silvertips’ roster.
Game 3 between the Vancouver Giants and Everett Silvertips is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. PST at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
