50 WHL Grads to Compete for University Cup
The 2016 University Cup, hosted by Saint Mary’s University is set to commence from Thursday, March 17th – Sunday, March 20th at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia with 50 WHL Graduates competing amongst six squads.
The University of Alberta Golden Bears have 22 WHL Grads that are seeking a three-peat at the 2016 CIS men’s hockey championship as they look to add to their record collection of 15 University Cup titles. The University of Saskatchewan who swept the University of Alberta Golden Bears earlier this month in the 2016 Canada West playoffs will have 14 WHL Grads looking to claim the University Cup. St. Francis Xavier will have six WHL graduates compete while Western University (4), University of New Brunswick (2) and Saint Mary’s University (2) round out all WHL Graduates that will participate.
The eight-team tournament will begin on Thursday, March 17th at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The quarter-finals will take place on March 17th and March 18th with two games occurring on each day. Both semi-finals and the 2016 CIS University Cup Final will air live on Sportsnet 360 and TVA Sports on March 19th and 20th, respectively. The CIS Bronze Medal Final game will be played on Sunday afternoon before the University Cup Final.
