WHEAT KINGS RECALL MILLER
Brandon, Manitoba — The Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that 16-year old defenceman Ryley Miller has been recalled from the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
rA second round draft choice (31st overall) of the Wheat Kings in the 2007 WHL bantam draft, Miller spent the first half of the season in Brandon before being assigned to the Saints in January.
rIn eighteen games with the Wheat Kings this season, the 6′ 170 lb. Spruce Grove, Alberta product had three assists and 25 minutes in penalties.
rInjuries to Sanfred King, Scott Glennie and Mark Schneider as well as Jordan Hale’s return to the forward position were the motivation behind Wednesday’s move.
rWith the addition of Miller, the Wheat Kings have 24 players on their active roster – eight defenceman, two goalkeepers and 14 forwards.
rThe Wheat Kings close out a 2-game Saskatchewan road trip Wednesday night in Prince Albert against the Raiders. Brandon is coming off Tuesday night’s 4-3 victory in Saskatoon, pulling the Wheat Kings to within six points of the front running Blades in the Eastern Division.
rFollowing tonight’s game, the Wheat Kings will return home to face off against the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday night.
