NOLAN PATRICK RECALLED
Brandon, MB. — The Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that 15-year old center Nolan Patrick will join the club for the balance of the 2013-14 Western Hockey League season.
A first round draft choice (4th overall) of the Wheat Kings in last year’s Bantam Draft, the 6’3″ 183 lb Winnipeg product is coming off an outstanding season with the Winnipeg AAA Midget Thrashers.
In 39 regular season games, Patrick finished third in Manitoba AAA Midget League scoring this year with 33 goals and 63 points. In 2012-13, he led the Winnipeg AAA Bantam League with 75 points, including 33 goals in only 19 games as a member of the Winnipeg Hawks.
The Thrashers were eliminated from post-season play this past weekend by the Winnipeg Wild, who will now meet the Eastman Selects in the Championship Final.
Patrick is expected to be in the Brandon lineup Tuesday night when the Wheat Kings kick off the final week of regular season play with a game against the visiting Saskatoon Blades.
Brandon is currently in a 3-way tie with Prince Albert and Red Deer for the final two playoff berths in the WHL’s Eastern Conference. While the Wheat Kings and Rebels play three games this week, the Raiders have four.
Following Tuesday’s game, the Wheat Kings will close out the regular season with a weekend home and home series with the Regina Pats. Saturday night’s game at Westman Place will feature the hockey club’s annual Awards Night, with trophy presentations to be made before, during and immediately following the game.
Tickets to both remaining home games are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at wheatkings.com.
Tomorrow night is also the fourth and final “2 for Tuesday” of the season. Fans purchasing a regular priced ticket at the box office will receive a second one (of equal value) free. As well, the Keystone Centre will be offering special concession discounts on hot dogs, soft drinks, popcorn and beer.
