MARK STONE BOBBLEHEAD NIGHT
Brandon, MB. — A former World Junior Hockey Tournament scoring star and popular Wheat Kings captain will be featured on this year’s MTS Connect Bobblehead Night on Friday night when Brandon kicks off a 2-game weekend series against the defending Memorial Cup Champion Edmonton Oil Kings.
The first 2,000 fans attending the game and displaying their ticket will receive a limited edition bobblehead, featuring the likeness of former Brandon captain Mark Stone of the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators.
A 22-year old Winnipeg native, Stone played four seasons with the Wheat Kings including the 2009-10 campaign when he helped to lead Brandon to the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup Championship Final against the Windsor Spitfires.
In 232 games with the Wheat Kings, Stone scored 106 goals and 296 points.
After scoring fifteen goals and 41 points in 37 games for the American Hockey League’s Binghampton Senators in 2013-14, Stone has five goals and nine points in sixteen games for the NHL Senators this season.
In 39 career NHL games, the Senators sixth round pick (178th overall in 2010) has scored nine goals and 17 points.
A former WHL Eastern Conference All Star, Stone captured the Wheat Kings Meighen Haddad Trophy as Most Valuable Player during his final season and captured a bronze medal with Team Canada at the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championship in Calgary.
MTS Connect staff will be distributing the Bobbleheads at three locations inside Westman Place on Friday – the east (behind section 1), the west (behind section 2) and the south main entrance.
The Wheat Kings will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday’s 5-0 loss in Swift Current when they take the ice on Friday. Brandon is currently 8-1-1 at Westman Place this season but in the only game played between the Wheat Kings and Oil Kings this season, Edmonton scored a 5-2 victory on October 13th.
Brandon enters the weekend with a record of 17-5-1 overall and a one point lead on second place Medicine Hat in the WHL’s Eastern Conference standings. As for the East Division, the Wheat Kings lead Swift Current by five.

Game time is 7:30pm but the doors to Westman Place open at 6:30pm so fans are encourged to purchase their tickets early and be one of the first two thousand through the doors.
This marks the first of two Bobblehead Nights of the 2014-15 season for the Wheat Kings. In January, two thousand fans will have the opportunity to pick up one that features New Jersey Devils first round draft choice John Quenneville.
