LISTON, BOES MAKE FINAL RANKINGS

Brandon, MB. — The final rankings have been released by the National Hockey league Central Scouting Service and both Brandon goalkeepers have made the list.

While Liam Liston is currently ranked ninth among North American goalkeepers entering June’s NHL Entry Draft, fellow 17-year old Corbin Boes is 20th.

A St. Albert product, who represented Brandon at January’s Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects Game in Toronto, Liston appeared in 41 of Brandon’s 72 regular season games this past season compiling a 3.77 goals against average and a record of 20-16-1-1.

Boes meanwhile finished his rookie year having played in 33 games and posting a 10-12-7-1 record. The Saskatoon native posted a 3.44 goals against mark and an .888 save percentage.

“I obviously would have liked to have held on to the spot I was in but considering the way things went for me in the second half, as far as my play, I don’t think anything else could have been expected,”  Liston told CkLQ’s Bruce Luebke on Monday. “Lots of time left before things start to happen in June and things like the combine so we’ll see how that goes.”

Meanwhile local defenceman Joel Edmundson of the Moose Jaw Warriors has moved up 36 spots in the final rankings and is currently number 33 among North American skaters.Edmundson had two goals, 20 points in 71 games with the Warriors in 2010-11.

Red Deer’s Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was ranked number one for this year’s draft, scheduled for St. Paul Minnesota.
