Athletic Trainer
Position Description: Reporting to the General Manager & Head Coach, this role offers an exciting opportunity to
contribute to the success of one of Manitoba’s most iconic sports teams. They are a key member of the players’
medical support team – preventing injuries, supporting recovery and ensuring they are physically and mentally
ready to compete.

medical support team – preventing injuries, supporting recovery and ensuring they are physically and mentally
ready to compete.
Job Duties:
• Provide medical coverage for all games and practices.
• Coordinate daily treatment sessions for players.
• Coordinate visits with alternative medical professionals, as needed.
• Collaborate with coaches and general managers regarding player availability and status.
• Create and implement in-season player Strength & Conditioning programming in co-ordination with Strength
and Conditioning coach.
• Provide long term injury rehabilitation through the season, as needed.
• Maintain accurate injury records, as per Hockey Canada standards.
• Assist the Equipment Manager with daily setup and other tasks, as needed.
• Develop and manage medical and treatment rooms and necessary equipment.
• Be present at many Wheat Kings events including but not limited to, Golf Tournament, Hockey School, Black
and Gold Gala and Main Camp.
• Responsible for making sure all players, staff, and billets are up to date on all CHL/WHL mandated courses
and certificates.
• Nutrition certifications as outlined by the WHL. This can be completed as continuing education once on staff.
• Implement nutrition programs for the team in season and during the off season.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education/Skill Requirements:
• Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(c) – Canadian Athletic Therapists Association
• Additional certifications in Registered Massage Therapy or Physiotherapy is an asset but is not required.
• Prior experience working within a sports organization.

Wheat Kings are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a passion for sports and entertainment to help out during the Wheat Kings’ home games.

Tasks may include:
– Engaging with fans
– Lifting up to 50lbs
– Ice scraping/shoveling
– Helping out during intermissions on ice and in the crowd
– Being on camera
– Being out in the community (if needed)
