NEWS & NOTES:
Last Game:. It was a thrilling 3-2 win in a shootout over the Red Deer Rebels. All deck was stacked against the Wheat King heading into Friday nights game with several players out of the lineup due to illness, injury or the fact that 3 of their young players were away at the World U-17 challenge. Forward Calder Anderson was called upon to take a spot on the blue line with limited defensemen in the lineup and relished the opportunity setting up the Wheat Kings first goal of the game which was Nate Danielson’s 3rd short handed goal of the season. One interesting stat from Friday’s game was the fact it was the first win the Wheat Kings have had all year where they allowed the first goal of the game.
Nov 12th @ Winnipeg: Saturday will be an extra late puck drop between the Ice and the Wheat Kings due to the Manitoba Bison’s hockey club using the facility for a USports Game. This extra time will only benefit the Wheat Kings who were only able to run 3 defenseman in Friday night’s shootout win. In the last outing between the Ice and the Wheat Kings the Wheat Kings had a 3-2 lead in the third period before the Ice stormed back to win 4-3 in regulation. The Wheat Kings will need the extra 90 minutes of rest to heal up and get ready for the number one team in the country.
