BACKYARD RINK CONTEST DEADLINE TODAY
Brandon, MB. – While the weather hasn’t been the best for building outdoor rinks this winter, The Home Depot and the Brandon Wheat Kings know that several western Manitoba hockey fans have gone ahead this winter and built one.
And it is those people that have until midnight tonight – Saturday, February 25th – to enter The Home Depot Backyard Rink Contest.
The winning entry will be announced Monday afternoon, with one backyard rink playing host to a special game of shinny against members of the Western Hockey League club.
If you or a family member have built a backyard rink, be sure to enter online at wheatkings.com, at BDO Fan Services during Saturday night’s game against the visiting Regina Pats or at Brandon’s Home Depot location in the Corral Centre.
This is the sixth year that the Wheat Kings and Home Depot have hosted the Backyard Rink Contest.
In other news, the Wheat Kings will be hoping to move into a seventh place tie with Regina when the two teams square off Saturday night at Westman Place. Brandon is currently two points back of the Pats and ten in front of the ninth place Red Deer Rebels in the WHL’s Eastern Conference.
Brandon is coming off Friday’s 3-2 Overtime Shootout win against Swift Current. Captain Mark Stone scored once in regulation and another in the team’s first shootout win in over two years.
