Tonight’s Matchup: The Brandon Wheat Kings look to bounce back after a tough 7-1 loss on home ice last night to the Moose Jaw Warriors. It’s the second meeting with the Calgary Hitmen in a week, and the final in the season series. Brandon won 2-1 in OT last Wednesday, their second straight extra-time win over the Hitmen.
Last Time Out: 7-1 L vs Moose Jaw: The Wheat Kings offense dried up without the likes of Ridly Greig, Nate Danileson and Marcus Kallionkieli last night. The Wheat Kings mustered up just 22 shots on goal. Jake Chiasson was the lone Wheat King to find the back of the net in the loss.

MASH 4077: The Brandon Wheat Kings were without Ridly Greig, Marcus Kallionkieli and Nate Danielson last night. All are listed as day-to-day and could draw back into the lineup at any time this week. But it was another night of shuffling the deck for the BWK coaching staff. This season, the Wheat Kings have lost 160+ man-games due to injury. There has yet to be a time this season where Don MacGillivray has had access to a 100% healthy roster for a practice or a game.
Calgary Finale: Tonight is the final meeting of the season between the Wheat Kings and the Hitmen. Brandon has won the last two, both in overtime. Calgary’s only win came back in October (3-2). The Hitmen enter play tonight just two points back of a playoff spot.
Tight Race: Entering play tonight, there are just five points separating 7th place from 11th place in the WHL’s Eastern Conference. Eight of the sixteen teams that will compete for the Ed Chynoweth Cup have booked their ticket to the dance, but only three of those eight reside in the Eastern Conference (Winnipeg, Edmonton & Red Deer).
