SHAW TV SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
Calgary, AB. – The Western Hockey League and SHAW Communications today announced that SHAW will broadcast 30 games on the full cable network in Western Canada during the 2009-10 WHL Regular Season and a full series in each of the four rounds of the 2010 WHL Playoffs. SHAW is entering its sixth season as the official regional cable broadcaster of the Western Hockey League.
The 2009-10 WHL on SHAW television broadcast schedule begins on Thursday, September 17th with a special season opening game featuring the defending WHL Champion Kelowna Rockets hosting B.C. Divisional rivals the Vancouver Giants. The feature game will be broadcast LIVE on SHAW TV starting with a half hour preview show at 7:00pm PT.

The Brandon Wheat Kings will appear four times on SHAW – Nov. 20th vs. Calgary (WCG Place), December 9th in Saskatoon, January 26th in Cranbrook, B.C. against the Kootenay Ice as well as March 7th against Saskatoon (WCG Place).

The 2009-10 WHL on SHAW broadcast schedule will highlight key rivals LIVE every Friday night on ‘The WHL on SHAW Friday Night Hockey’ across Western Canada on SHAW TV and Shaw Direct ‘Channel 299’. The WHL on SHAW will continue to feature the play-by-play of Dan Russell with analysis from Bill Wilms along with the WHL on SHAW’s new Eastern broadcast crew featuring play-by-play by Joey Kenward and analysis by WHL and NHL Alumnus Jeff Odgers. SHAW’s WHL Central will continue provide exclusive features and news from across the WHL during the broadcast intermissions, WHL Central is hosted by Dan Elliott.
