Chiefs Take Down T-Birds

T-Birds expect full ShoWare Center at Seattle Metropolitans Night Saturday

SPOKANE, December 4, 2015 — The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-1 Friday night at the Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane.

The T-Birds host the Tri-City Americans Saturday at ShoWare Center at 7:05pm on Seattle Metropolitans Night. Metropolitans Night is a celebration of 100 years of hockey in Seattle and the game is expected to be a sellout.

The T-Birds will be wearing special Metropolitans throwback jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. The Stanley Cup will also be at the game. Fans will be able to take pictures with the Cup.

Season Tickets holders can enter ShoWare Center at 5pm, one hour before normal doors open, to take pictures with the Cup. ShoWare Center doors will open at 6pm for non-season tickets holders. The Cup will stay at least one hour past the end of the game for fans to get pictures. 

The Hockey Hall of Fame will also be displaying Seattle Metropolitans historical items, including a jersey and skates from when the Metropolitans played. There will be Seattle Metropolitans merchandise for sale as well.

Adam Helewka had a hat trick for the Spokane (15-10-2-1) in the win. Curtis Miske, Tyson Helgesen, Nik Andersen and Jaret Anderson-Nolan also had goals for Spokane.

Ryan Gropp scored a power-play goal at 12:55 of the second period to get Seattle (16-8-2-0) on the board. Gropp snapped a wrist shot past Spokane goalie Tyson Verhelst.

Logan Flodell was pulled after the Chiefs fourth goal. He made seven saves on 11 shots and his record falls to 10-5-2-0 with the loss. Burman finished with 18 saves on 21 shots.

Spokane outshot Seattle 32-25 in the game.

Verhelst stopped 24 of 25 shots and his record is now 12-5-0-1.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2015-16 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm Saturday game days at 10 am and Sunday game days at noon.
